So over the past five days I have been immersed in a Jurassic Park marathon on TV. Now that I’ve seen them all, all I can think of is “OMG DINOSAURS. I MUST KNOW MORE.” this has lead to me having at least five tabs open on different Dino facts at all times.
I love researching knowledge I will probably never need to use.

So my mom seems to think that whenever a piece of electronics has run it’s course and died, that it was a piece of shit during it’s whole life. Our 3 piece cordless phone set has now kicked the bucket. They have served us VERY well over the past many years. But now she’s convinced they were always crap. LIES I tell you!
Also, now nobody can call my house until we get new...

somewhere only we know: DEFINE "AMERICANIZED,"... →
a-thing-for-epaulets:
What exactly does that mean? I keep seeing all these comments on various fanpages saying Torchwood is “too Americanized” and that “it’s sickening to watch.” You know what, if there wasn’t this American network paying for over half of the production, there would be no Torchwood. Jack would’ve…
Bravo. This is perfect. I personally think that Miracle Day is better...

Jack: If their grammar was wrong, it could mean that English is not their first language.
Gwen: I didn't notice anything wrong with it.
Jack: You're Welsh, you wouldn't notice if the vowels were missing.
Gwen: BUTTON IT!
So I’m scrolling through my twitter feed, catching up on the last few hours, when all of a sudden everybody’s tweeting “Earthquake? In New York? Can’t be! Twitters making it up! Oh, Really? It did happen? OMG earthquake AND hurricane! Aaaahhhh!!” and I laughed a bit. Apparently it’s a fairly minor quake centered in VIRGINIA, and nobody has been hurt. Sure it...

“You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you’ll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.”
- Alaska Young from Looking For Alaska by John Green.
That might be the best thing I’ve ever heard. Seriously, how have I never read...

So Jurassic Park is on TV. I was watching it as I passed through the living room. I went down to my room for a bit and when I came back upstairs they were all clean and in a helicopter. And alive. Took me a second to realize that it had restarted.
wellalright:
ugh. florida.
who thought this place was a good idea? how did settlers from europe of all places land in florida in summer without electricity and go, “oh yeah, this place is nice. let’s like, try to build a bunch of colonies to raise our families here.”
how did the first guy not just get off the boat and go, “oh man, what is that? is that the sun? jesus. fuck it, let’s bail....

Meta on River & the doctor →
miss-imagine:
An excellent essay that every fan of the current series should read. It’s very insightful on the themes being used in the “Moffat era” of Doctor Who involving the 11th Doctor and River characters. It’s also brings up Moffat’s style of storytelling in general.
Things that I found interesting in the essay:
-The psychology behind why the 11th doctor is very different from 10.
-Why...

Have you ever stopped to wonder where certain idioms came from? This morning I was faced with “more than you can shake a stick at.” Apart from the visual making me laugh, I realized it actually made no sense.
I’m finally watching Firefly. I know nothing about it other than it’s a Sci-Fi show that was prematurely cancelled, it has a HUGE following, and that it’s a miracle that I haven’t seen it yet. This could be interesting…
Hello.
I have a Tumblr now. Tumblrs are cool.
I am completely undecided on whether or not I will find this useful or just annoying. It seems to fill an EXTREMELY niche place between my blog and my twitter.
I guess we’ll see how this goes
BTW, I was extremely apprehensive about twitter as well.
